Definition and Basic Information

Concept: HIB-oriented Silicon Steel is a type of cold-rolled grain-oriented silicon steel with a silicon content of 2.9% - 3.5%. Its crystal structure in the steel plate has a specific regularity and direction, featuring a high degree of orientation along the (110)<001> direction, which is also known as the Gaussian direction.

 

Production Process: It is produced through a series of complex processes including smelting, hot rolling, cold rolling, annealing, and coating. Strict control of the chemical composition and precise process parameters are required to achieve its excellent magnetic properties.

 

Performance Advantages

High Magnetic Induction Intensity: Under standard conditions, the magnetic induction intensity of HIB steel can reach about 1.92 T, which is significantly higher than that of ordinary oriented silicon steel (about 1.82 T). This enables the transformer core made of it to generate a stronger magnetic field with the same excitation current, thereby improving the efficiency and power density of the transformer.

 

Low Iron Loss: It has lower hysteresis loss and eddy current loss. The excellent magnetic properties reduce the energy loss during the magnetization and demagnetization processes of the core, which helps save energy and reduce the operating temperature of the transformer, prolonging its service life.

 

Small Magnetostriction: The magnetostriction of HIB-oriented Silicon Steel is relatively small, which means that the deformation and vibration of the core during operation are relatively slight. This is beneficial for reducing the noise of the transformer and improving its stability and reliability.

 

Applications

Power Transformers: It is mainly used in the manufacture of high-voltage and ultra-high-voltage power transformers, such as 500 kV and above large power transformers, as well as DC converter transformers in HVDC transmission projects. Its excellent magnetic properties can effectively reduce the no-load loss and noise of the transformer, improve the power transmission efficiency, and ensure the stable operation of the power grid.

 

Distribution Transformers: It can also be applied to distribution transformers in the power distribution system to improve the efficiency and reliability of power distribution and reduce power loss during power distribution.
